Here is the formula:<\/p>\n<p>BMI = (weight in pounds\/2.205)\/(height in inches\/39.37) squared<\/p>\n<p>Then plug that number in to the chart below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NORMAL WEIGHT \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 BMI greater or equal to 18.5 &#8211; 24.9<\/li>\n<li>OVERWEIGHT \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0BMI 25-29.9<\/li>\n<li>OBESE \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 BMI greater or equal to 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It has been know that carrying too much weight is harmful to one&#8217;s health for over 2000 years. \u00a0But the incidence of obesity has \u00a0skyrocketed in modern society.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the United States, from 1988 &#8211; 1994, the obesity rate was 22.9%<\/li>\n<li>Then form 1999 &#8211; 2000 it was 30.5%<\/li>\n<li>From 2015 &#8211; 2016, it was 39.6%<\/li>\n<li>By 2030 it is projected to be 50%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important for citizens to begin to learn how to avoid becoming obese&#8230;and how to undo damage already done!<\/p>\n<p>OVERNUTRITION, in addition to leading to overweight and obesity, also leads to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>-poor health outcomes<\/li>\n<li>-premature deaths<\/li>\n<li>-cardiovascular disease<\/li>\n<li>-diabetes<\/li>\n<li>-hypertension<\/li>\n<li>-cancer<\/li>\n<li>-sleep apnea<\/li>\n<li>-GERD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also associated with osteoarthritis, gallstones, depression, and the list goes on&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But we can learn to avoid OVERNUTRITION. \u00a0 It starts with a few simple rules.<\/p>\n<p>Rule#1 &#8211; avoid caloric drinks and stick with water, unsweetened tea, coffee, milk &#8211; drinks like gatorade and soft drinks have great marketing but leave you fat and empty<\/p>\n<p>Rule#2 &#8211; avoid processed foods.<\/p>\n<p>Rule #3 &#8211; practice portion control<\/p>\n<p>Rule #4 &#8211; self monitor. \u00a0Keep a food diary. \u00a0Avoid mindless eating in front of the TV.<\/p>\n<p>YOU CAN DO IT. \u00a0START SMALL. \u00a0LITTLE STEPS STILL MOVE YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. \u00a0IT&#8217;S NOT A DIET&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>IT&#8217;S A LIFESTYLE<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TOO MUCH FOOD What is essential to life but also one of the greatest killers? \u00a0What do you need to stay alive but also is responsible for more disease and premature death than Covid or Cancer? \u00a0The surprising answer is FOOD!
